Maps Are My Personal Travel Journals
When I travel I always am well equiped. I have my travel documents, my passport, my maps, a medical kit all the things I will potentially need on my travels.
When I was in New Zealand last year I lost my map of New Zealand at the beginning of the trip. Now I was distraught because this well worn map had my whole trip laid out in great detail including my notes and markings.
Now as I go through the maps I have in front of me – my map of Maryland, a map of New Mexico, a map of New York, even a map of Norway. I can relive all my trips to these regions. My maps are my personal journals – all marked out with my own form of Hieroglyphics. I can tell were I slept and on what night, where I had a good meal – even where I acquired my hangovers! My maps are my own documents of my travels and I value them greatly!
