Sheffield in the North of England

Sheffield is one of the largest cities in the north of England with a population of over half a million. Nearly cities include Rotherham, Barnsley, and Doncaster. The city was a major industrial one renowned for Sheffield steel. Today it is also known for its culture including galleries, museums and sporting events.
Sheffield lies in the south of the county of Yorkshire. Sheffield is close to the major centers of Manchester, Leeds and York. It has many accommodation offerings including fine hotels, Sheffield bed and breakfasts, and guest houses.
One of Sheffield’s major shopping destinations is the Meadowhall Shopping Centre to the east of the city center. Nearby the Peak District extends to the western side of the city. The South Pennines is just to the north of Sheffield.
