Dubai International Jazz Festival

Billed as “10 Days of Much More than Jazz,” the Dubai International Jazz Festival wraps up this Friday, February 27th with performances by Kaz Simmons, Mike Stern, Lizz Wright and Icognito. Other headliners during the 10 day event included John Legend, James Blunt, Spyro Gyra, and Kelly Dickson.
The festival opened on February 18th and showcases over 120 artists to appreciative audiences at the Dubai Music City. Last year, over 28,000 jazz lovers attended the festival. In addition to featuring critically acclaimed jazz musicians, the festival includes artists in genres as diverse as blues, pop, hip hop, gospel, and reggae. Legendary artists serve as headlines, but the festival also spotlights new and rising talents.
In addition to the main performances, the festival hold ancillary events such as jam sessions at area venues. There is an arts and crafts village established during the festival as well as numerous food and beverage outlets. The festival was first held in 2003 with nearly 8000 attendees. In 2008 the festival expanded to the current ten-day format with free concerts available across the city over the first seven days.
