Warwick Folk Festival

Warwick, England lies along the River Avon in the county of Warwickshire. And while it many not be as internationally famous as the another town, which lies along the same river, that town being Stratford, the famous birthplace of William Shakespeare, it certainly has its own reason to brag. There are many interesting cultural events, festivals, landmarks and attractions, which draw numerous tourists to the town every year. Guests staying in a Warwick hotel may be lucky enough to participate in the annual Folk festival. This is great fun for the entire family. Victorian Evening is another popular celebration and it takes place in November or December of every year.

The Warwick Folk Festival takes place in July of every year. It is generally a two to three day event that occurs late in the month. The 2009 festival was recently celebrated on July 24, 25 and the 26th. The central location is the Warwick School, which features a large marquee and is an informational base for all the festival events. The festival always includes dances, concerts and of course variuos pub participational events. These activities are all able to be accessed by a free shuttle ride from the main venue at the school.

The 2009 festival had an incredible line up of performers. Something the festival orgainzers aim for is to offer an entertainment experience for everyone, and accommodate most interests. This was certainly the case this year, when the festival featured performances from Kate Rusby, a respected folk singer from South Yorkshire. She was joined by her sister, Emma who sang backup and also played the fiddle. Jan’s Van and Panic Circus also performed and is an incredible ensemble of clowns and other entertainers. This is an extremely family oriented group and children always love their shows. Also, The Old Dance School, which is young six person folk group performed at the festival. They are an up and coming Uk sensation and have just released their debut album titled Based on a True Story.
