Friend Visits Kuala Lumpur and All I Get is a T-Shirt
Denise is an avid traveler although most of her friends complain that she never wants to go to the popular places. Denise’s response is that every place is popular; it just depends on whom you ask. Meanwhile, some of our friends rarely have the time or resources to travel as much as Denise does and they don’t think it’s too much to ask that they get to live vicariously through her. Because of this, they think she should go to places they would love to see, like Paris or London, or Florence. Meanwhile, at our last book club meeting, we heard about Denise’s latest trip to Malaysia.
So, we ate our scones, drank our tea and or lemonade and the girls begrudgingly at first listened to the stories of Denise’s stay in one of the Kuala Lumpur Malaysia hotels. Not surprisingly, her experiences there quickly stole the attention away from Sense and Sensibility and the girls became completely enthralled by everything she did and saw.
She described the incredible Twin Towers, which were the tallest buildings in the world until 2004. She described the view she had from the skybridge on the 41st and 42nd floors. And some of the girls got a little dizzy from her descriptions form the observational level. They had no idea that Kuala Lumpur was so big, having over seven million residents or that it was so popular with tourists. She spent an entire day shopping at the Central Market and described incredible original arts and crafts. It was incredibly easy to get to and said that direct transportation from her hotel was available. By the end of the story they decided that Denise could pick her own travel destinations, and they would eagerly wait to hear her stories. They also graciously accepted the souvenirs she gave them of t-shirts from the Kuala Lumpur Hard Rock Café.
