Brisbane is the third largest city in Australia, and also one of its most culturally forward-thinking. It has attracted a large number of artists for the past few decades, gathering here to make work individually and collectively. There is a great alternative music scene, and the visual arts culture is extremely lively and very cutting edge. There have been periods where art and music folded together quite seamlessly, and one period of its recent history, on the cusp of the early 1980s, was particularly exciting. The Brisbane Sound refers to the post-punk years, which were particularly fertile artistic years here and in other major urban centers. Some of the more famous players here were Ed Kuepper, John Nixon, Robert Forster, and Jenny Watson, who were instrumental in taking advantage of a particular cultural moment. Some of their contributions to the Brisbane Sound involved making connections and putting mechanisms into place that would allow the contemporary currents in music and in visual art to come together. Deeply steeped in post-70s conceptualism, there was a very deep mistrust of the standard systems of art production and reproduction. New schools of thought revolving around ways of making work came from following a persistent dissatisfaction, and finding links in other artists and their ideas.

There are too, too many data backup horror stories. Too many who had precious information which may have included such irreplaceable data such as financial spreadsheets, payment records, photo files and much more. The following is a story about one Harald Anderson:

The “worst case scenario” happened to Harald a few years ago. He’d received a call from a friend informing him that his home had been broken into and the burglars had not only stolen the electronics in the living room but had also taken all the PCs in the house. Another recent blog poster recounted her data loss horror story, and it’s paraphrased as follows:

When she and her husband finally met after a long distance love affair, they were together for seven days. They went to every tourist attraction they could possibly see. They took a lot of pictures with them of the places they went. Then, loaded them to computer and saved. They did the same thing with their wedding photos. One day, their computer got infected by a virus and they couldn’t fix it. They lost all the pictures and felt very bad, realizing — it’s all gone! Extra Songkran Flights on Thai Airways

Thai Airways has added extra flights between Bangkok and PHuket during the upcoming Songkran period. There will be a total of eight additional round-trip flights carrying visitors from Survarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok and the Phuket International Airport.

Flights to Phuket from Bangkok will be increased on April 10th-11th. Additional flights from Phuket to Bangkok will be on April 14th- 16th. The airline anticipates it will use larger aircraft on existing flights in order to provide seats for festival travelers.

Across Thailand the airline is scheduling 29 additional flights from Bangkok to the provinces. In additional to Phuket, additional flights have been added to Chaing Rai, Khon Kaen, Chaing Mai, and Krabi. These new flights include 12,404 seats. A total of 22, 674 additional seats will be provided on new and existing flights representing a 17.1 percent increase in passengers.

Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year festival. Much of the country goes on holiday during the festival, which is held between April 13 – 15 and usually includes the weekends before and after the event. Luxury Phuket hotels as well as hotels throughout the resort areas of Thailand usually see an increase in business during this time of year.

Bangkok Airways is the only only airline that has announced plans to increase passenger loads during Songkran. That airline is adding one daily flight each on April 13th, 14th, and 15th.

Leave AOL with no problems

The world of technology is fast-paced and always changing. There are still a few glitches that occur when you move from an older application to a newer one, though. For example, I needed to export AOL address book because AOL was no longer working for me.

I was able to do this with few problems because I purchased an inexpensive application that did it for me. Then I did something that I should have done a long time ago. I found a program to help me find deleted email. I never knew this existed until now and I can’t believe that I waited so long to look for it!

Now that I can leave AOL and keep all of my addresses, messages and emails, I feel really good about joining gmail or Google mail. This is something that I should have done a long time ago but did know that this helpful program existed. I’m going to shout it from the rooftop that Connected Software saved me!

Converting Email Solutions

Have you ever had to convert email? I recently went through this when I got a new computer. I found this extremely difficult to do until I did a search on ‘convert email to gmail.’ I came across a company called Connected Software and their site gave me the answers to my email problems.

I was also able to figure out my Blackberry POP3 email and how to recover deleted AOL email. This information helped me greatly.

In the future if I have any problems related to address books or email I will immediately return to the Connected Software site.
