Washington, DC is always capable of supplying the unexpected, and usually at the most unexpected moments. Martinez patterned it after the convenience store slushie machines, with the intentions of providing his customers with a consistently wonderful margarita. It was also invented right around the time that Tex-Mex was making its way from a local delight into the cross-currents of mainstream culture.

Vancouverites are Crazy over Chronic Tacos

While visiting Vancouver there is one place you must check-out: Chronic Tacos . They just opened their doors, but this south of the border taco house has been the talk of the city even before they opened. It isn’t strange that Vancouverites get all excited over a taco. Canada isn’t known for its great Mexican cuisine, but now that has all changed since Chronic Taco moved into town.

Located on 382 West Broadway and close to the better Vancouver hotels , this large restaurant not only serves tacos, there is a full bar, several booths, tables, bar tables and a lounge area. Definitely not your usual fast-food taco chain; there are also 9 LCD TV’s and most channels were on a sports station.

Chronic Tacos is one step above fast-food establishments, it’s a get it yourself place with a counter to place your order, find a seat and they will serve your order at your table. 4 tacos such as the spicy pork, Carne Asada, Pollo Asada and the beer battered fish, will only set you back $15. The tacos are scrumptious and watching all the sports on any of the 9 large screen LCD TVs on a Sunday or a Monday, what more could anyone ask for? Oh, only a special on all domestic beers, $4.20 on Sunday and Mondays Night Football nights.

It’s fitting that the best food city in North America will play host to the annual gathering of food bloggers. The 2nd Annual Foodbuzz Blogger Festival will bring together top food bloggers with select FoodBuzz sponsors. Last year’s inaugural event was a resounding success, leading organizers to schedule this year’s Festival for November 5th -7th.

The tentative schedule includes a Welcome Reception and Friday Night Dinner on November 4th. Yoko Ono Back in Montreal

It’s the sign of a remarkable city when an exhibition can win the people’s choice award two years in a row , even after the exhibition has officially closed. In the city that gave birth to so many muses, it’s also had its share pass through its borders. John Lennon and Yoko Ono spent a famous time here when they performed their Bed-in in 1969 , and that moment has been immortalized in the Imagine exhibit.

Not that it needs to be immortalized, but it’s never a wasted moment to pay another homage to the moment, along with the thoughts of the participants. The philosophy of John and Yoko was profound enough to make a generation around the world pay attention. No one’s been able to match the size of their footsteps, although Yoko has never slowed down in her artistic production.

She was very much a part of the exhibition, helping to make sure the moment was marked in the right way, and paying careful attention to the nature of the place in its present moment. The ‘Prince of Broadway’ will premier in New York City September 3, 2010 at the Angelika Film Center located on the corner of 18 West Houston Street and Mercer Street, which is next to some of the finer hotels in New York City . The ‘Prince of Broadway’ is a story of Lucky and Levon, two men whose lives converge in the underbelly of New York’s wholesale fashion district.

Lucky, who is an illegal immigrant from Ghana makes ends meet by soliciting shoppers on the street with knock-off brand merchandise. Levon, an Armenian-Lebanese immigrant, operates an illegal store-front with a concealed backroom where counterfeit goods are showcased to interested shoppers. Lucky’s world is suddenly turned upside down when a child is thrust into his life by a woman who insists the child is his son. As Lucky deals with his new domestic dilemma, Levon struggles to save a marriage that is falling apart.

The seedy side of the wholesale district is revealed through a journey that continually confronts the interplay between what is fake and what is real. Set in the shadow of the Flatiron building and soaked in the colorful bustle of Broadway, the film is as much a brutal drama as it is a tender comedy. Shot in a fast-paced guerilla style that matches the hustler lifestyle, the film reveals the lives of immigrants in America seeking ideals of family and love, while creating their own knock-off of the American Dream.

It’s one of the loveliest cities in the country, and it has a pretty solid reputation in the rest of the world as well. Visiting Seattle and living here are two different things, many people might tell you.

But the truth is, they’re really not that different. It’s fairly subtle, like the rain, where the gradations in intensity might be apparent to a long-term resident, but to most folks it’s just misty and it smells nice here. In fact, it is nice here. There’s a phenomenon in these parts known as Seattle Nice , and it might be something only people who move here encounter in any extended and noticeable way.

Weekenders and those in town for trips, staying at Seattle business hotels sometimes only get a taste of the city’s posh downtown areas. There’s a lot more to it, as is true of any city. But here, when someone moves to town, it doesn’t take more than a week or so to realize that this is a nice place.

People do wait at four-way stops in Seattle , and it’s not like other cities where people will take the initiative. They wait. They want to make sure they give you the chance to go first. It’s almost as if they behave like they have time.
